On Team Sentinels: We have the greatness to be elite.
By the end of 8th grade at Mount Vernon Middle School, students are expected to show increased independence, responsibility, and readiness for high school. They will strengthen core academic skills in math, reading, writing, science, and social studies, with an emphasis on critical thinking and problem-solving. Students also develop organizational and study habits that prepare them for the more rigorous pace of high school coursework. Additionally, they continue building social and emotional skills, learning to collaborate, communicate, and make positive choices as they transition into young adulthood. Overall, families can expect their child to finish the year more confident, capable, and prepared for the challenges of high school.
